Chad Aleman, M.D., RPVI, RVT
Dr. Chad Aleman is a board-certified physician who began his practice as a full-time vein specialist in January of 2008. He is passionate about his mission to improve the lives of those with symptomatic varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency. With over 15 years of experience as a vein specialist, Dr. Aleman has performed literally tens of thousands of modern, minimally-invasive vein treatments. The importance of clinical expertise obtained by those years of experience and focus on vein disease cannot be overstated.
Thomas Cunningham, M.D.

Dr. Cunningham has performed thousands of minimally invasive, catheter-based, and ultrasound-guided vascular procedures. Dr. Cunningham’s focus is on treating patients with varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, edema, venous stasis, and/or leg ulcers. Many of the patients that seek treatment at Trident Vein Center have suffered with leg pain for many years resulting in a very poor quality of life.
Barry Oswalt, M.D.
Dr. Oswalt has performed thousands of minimally invasive, catheter-based, and ultrasound guided vascular procedures. Dr. Oswalt started his career in general surgery, but found he was often treating patients with varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, venous stasis, or leg ulcers. He noted that many of these patients suffered for many years and had a very poor quality of life, and some had spent years improperly diagnosed or treated with now outdated methodologies, such as vein stripping.
Eric Phillippi, M.D.
Dr. Eric Phillippi grew up in the Milwaukee suburb of Menomonee Falls before moving to Madison in 2004 for his education. He has both undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, completing his Doctor of Medicine in 2014. He was a resident in Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he served as Chief Resident for the program from 2016-2017. During his residency, Dr. Phillippi sought out additional training specific to office-based surgical procedures.
Dr. Steve Samuel
After being a board-certified general surgeon for 33 years, Dr. Samuel developed severe venous insufficiency in his left leg. He proceeded to have a procedure on his left greater saphenous vein that dramatically changed his life and lifestyle. From that moment on, he began a journey to convert his general surgery practice to a venous insufficiency practice. With the help of his mentor, Dr. Chris Pittman, this became a very busy yet successful journey.
